Dr. Jennifer Martin was born in New York to a Texan and Englishman.
Her family moved a lot while she was growing up, but settled in Midland, Texas, where she attended high school. She then did undergraduate and vet school at Texas A&M. Her love and appreciation of James Herriot provided her the opportunity to work in practices in England for 4 weeks during her senior year of vet school.
Her biggest interest in veterinary medicine has always been Dentistry, which is what led her to Brodie Animal Hospital. Her mentor, Dr. Bert Dodd (the dentist at Texas A&M vet school) introduced her to Dr. Werner, who was trying to expand the dentistry program at Brodie Animal Hospital. It has been a very happy and mutually beneficial relationship! She also enjoys soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Martin has been married for over 2 decades and has a daughter at UNT and a son in high school. Her family also includes two golden retrievers (Toby and Janie), a cat (Sorella), and 10 laying hens. She loves walking the dogs, gourmet cooking and traveling. Hawaii is their special place, and someday they hope to relocate there.
